One of Australia’s most iconic performers Delta Goodrem joins the star studded list of talent taking part in the Vodafone MTV Australia Awards 2009.

Delta Goodrem will return to the MTV stage as a presenter at the Vodafone MTV Australia Awards 2009. At the 2008 Awards, Goodrem won ‘Music Video Of The Year’ and in just six years has become one of Australia’s most successful female singer/song-writers and has a legion of loyal fans across the globe.

Goodrem’s career reached multi-platinum status when her debut album Innocent Eyes hit stores in 2003. The album entered the charts in the number one spot and held the coveted position for a record breaking total of 29 weeks. Since then her follow up albums Mistaken Identity (2004) and Delta (2007) have both debuted at number one. Her most recent album ‘Delta’ was also awarded the highest selling album at the 2008 ARIA Awards.

Delta Goodrem will join presenters Dannii Minogue, Duffy, Lara Bingle, Rhys Darby and Blink-182’s Mark Hoppus and performers Kaiser Chiefs, Jessica Mauboy, The Fray, The Killers, Kings Of Leon (via satellite) and Sia. Fall Out Boy’s Pete Wentz will host the show, while The Hills ‘It Girl’, Audrina Patridge, will host the ‘The Red Carpet At The Vodafone MTV Australia Awards’ along side MTV VJ’s Maz Compton, Darren Mc Mullen and Ruby Rose.

Delta Goodrem will sing the national anthem at next week’s Australian Grand Prix.

Goodrem will add star quality to the event - which is desperately needed after the cancellation of the celebrity race.

She is expected to be in Melbourne with her fiance, Brian McFadden.

The Grand Prix is the first major event to feel the effects of the global financial crisis.

Vodafone has cancelled its extravagant trackside marquee this year.

The company, however, will still throw an annual party to be held at Eureka bar on Saturday night.

Red Bull, a company famous for putting on million-dollar parties, is also downsizing and its trackside presence will not be as big as in previous years.

The last couple of years Mercedes-Benz has thrown its Star Lounge parties at Eureka, but this year it’s all at the track.

Mercedes-Benz will host a ladies’ lunch on Thursday and host a party after the race on Sunday.

Lewis Hamilton will attend the Tag Heur party at Bistro Guillaume on Thursday.

Guests who will be attending Sunday’s night’s party include Shane Warne, Michala Banas, Tim Campbell, Benjamin Hart, Angus Kennett, Hamish McLachlan, Naomi Robson, Jo Stanley, Brett Tucker, Rhys Ulrich and Kym Valentine.

Delta Goodrem’s luscious long locks are a sight to behold, but possibly nobody enjoys them more than the Aussie songstress herself.

Like many other cancer patients, Delta, who underwent successful treatment for Hodgkins disease in 2003, found that her hair was part of the price she had to pay in the fight against the killer disease.

Always “a long hair girl” growing up, she decided to go back to long hair as soon as she had the chance. “I’m just so fortunate to have my hair back. I want to make the most of it,” she said.

Bruce Springsteen, Billy Joel, Andre Rieu, Midnight Oil and Delta Goodrem are among dozens of high-profile artists who have thrown their support behind fundraising efforts for victims of Australia’s destructive bushfires.

American superstars Springsteen and Joel along with Aussie acts Midnight Oil, Goodrem and John Farnham have donated songs for a CD, ‘Bushfire Aid — Artists for the Bushfire Appeal,’ which will hit the racks in local stores from early next week.

Proceeds from the sale of the CD will benefit the Salvation Army Bushfire Appeal through the charitable arm of the Australian Sony Group of Companies, the Sony Foundation.
